TapVent brings one-tap entry, payments and live insight to South African events
One NFC wristband opens the gate, pays the bar and tips the staff, with no hardware to rent and no balance stored on the band.
Pretoria, 18 October 2026 — TapVent, the NFC event platform from ToGGeL (Pty) Ltd, is now available to South African event organisers. A single wristband handles entry, payments, tips and pre-paid redemptions. Organisers watch sales, attendance and redemptions live.
Many South African events still run on cash, and cash carries costs organisers rarely count. Takings go missing, queues slow down, cash-up runs for hours after the gates close, and moving money off site is a safety risk. TapVent replaces the cash box with a wristband that attendees tap to pay.
Built around what attendees complain about
Cashless systems overseas have taught attendees to dread event tokens, top-up queues and refund fees. TapVent is built to avoid them.
- Rand prices, not tokens. A drink costs what the menu says.
- Load without a bank card. Attendees load online, or with cash at a retail till using an OTT voucher, and can top up mid-event.
- No refund forms. Leftover balance stays in the attendee’s TapAPI wallet, ready for the next event.
Built around what organisers need
- No hardware to rent. Any Android phone with NFC becomes a till.
- Ticket inclusions linked to the band. A VIP drink allowance or a meal voucher is redeemed with one tap, and every redemption is counted.
- Live insight. Sales by vendor, attendance by session, and redemptions as they happen.
- Only what the event needs. Access control, attendance, sessions, payments and tips are switched on per event.
The balance never lives on the band
Each wristband is locked after encoding and carries no balance, so there is nothing on the chip to rewrite. The money stays in the attendee’s wallet.
“Cash costs organisers more than they count, and too many cashless systems swap that cost for tokens and refund fees,” said Charles Matthews of ToGGeL. “The same wristband opens the gate, pays the bar and tips the staff. The money stays in rand and in the wallet, never on the band, and any Android phone with NFC can run a till.”
TapVent suits music and food festivals, school and club days, markets, conferences and corporate events. Organisers can book a demo at tapvent.co.za.
